Over the last several months, we have discussed a lot of things on this show. This being an election year, the topics of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have come up more than once. A lot of people are displeased with the Republican and Democrat candidates, though, and are looking for another choice.
If he can earn 15% in polls, Gary Johnson and his running mate Bill Weld, will be included in upcoming presidential debates. Now, a lot of people believe voting for a third party candidate is tantamount to wasting one’s vote on a write-in for Gary Busey. “He can’t win because not enough people will vote for him.” So, people don’t vote for the candidate, thus creating a self-fulfilling prophecy.
What if only about 15-20% of people backing Clinton or Trump were doing so because they like the candidate, and the remaining votes were strictly based on party affiliation, or the desire to not vote for the “other guy?” Well, that’s actually the case. By the issues and favor, there are approximately the same amount of supporters for each candidate.
