Last week on the show, guest host Steve Lee and Dan talked about the current situation with the FBI, Apple, and the iPhone 5c of a terrorist. This week, Dan started by asking Lyle’s position on the issue. The intention was to move from there into a discussion about the recent terrorist attacks in Brussels, Belgium. What actually happened was quite different. Listen to episode 10 of Beer & Bros. to see how it all went down.
On Tuesday, March 22 explosions ripped through Brussels’ airport and a busy subway station across town. The coordinated attacks killed more than 30 people and injured in excess of 230 more.
As with most attacks, ISIS was quick to collect responsibility for the incidents. Authorities tend to agree, but all of the evidence has not yet been collected.
Three men can be seen pushing carts through the Brussels airport. Two of them are believed to be suicide bombers; the third, the person responsible for coordinating the attacks and ensuring things went as planned. He left the airport before the explosions.
Based on a tip received from a taxi driver, authorities raided the apartment where the men had been picked up. What they found were a nail bomb, chemical products, and an ISIS flag.
It is believed that the attack was coordinated by the same group responsible for last November’s attacks on Paris.
The conversation turned into a debate on privacy, security, and laws.
