When we decided to re-create our home page to bring more dynamics and a visual representation of our content, a slider came to mind. After trying numerous free WordPress slider plugins and even a couple premium versions, nothing seemed to fit our needs for displaying content as we desired it, or poorly written code which created system issues.
Then we discovered SlideDeck!
SlideDeck is a premium WordPress plugin developed by Digital Telepathy which allows for simple creation of WordPress sliders through various lenses and multiple dynamic content points. We had the pleasure of interviewing Jason Amunwa Director of Products for Digital Telepathy on their WordPress plugin SlideDeck. Please have a listen.
In the following example is the slider we created for our home page and some of the various utility aspects of the product. Note: Click any image to expand.
Creating a dynamic slider is very simple by selecting “Create SlideDeck” and selecting and or adding other content sources. In our example we are bring in the latest posts from WordPress.
Configurable Lens Selection -There are numbers lenses which allows the creator to decide on how the content will be displayed.
Options and configurations – Normally micromanagement has a negative connotation; however, it’s a positive word when describing SlideDeck. There are numerous settings to fine tune the slider just as you want, but too many to show here.
Final thoughts. With live previewing and now with “responsive” functionality which automatically re-sizes the slider depending on page size and viewing device, this incredible plugin is unlimited to its value and capabilities for content creators.
