This week, when I contacted Lyle about a topic for the show, I suggested we talk about the Brexit. Lyle thought it was too broad a topic to discuss in half an hour, and I agreed. What we settled on was the Summer Olympic Games, as they’re coming up in August. Instead of taking a serious look at the games, though, we decided to have a little fun at the games’ expense. Click play and listen to the two of us discussing the more comical sporting events in the summer games.
Beginning on August 5th, 2016, the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro will thrill audiences worldwide. This will be the first summer games in South America. Athletes will compete in 42 “sports” over the course of 19 days, making up 306 individual events.
I use quotation marks because it is debatable, at least among the hosts of Beer & Bros., as to the level of “sport” involved, and whether each event should actually be an olympic sport.
Lyle and I are in agreement that there are some sports that just… belong. You know, track and field, and… well, track and field is something we agree on. Other sports, like synchronized swimming, beach volleyball, horse dancing (or whatever it’s called) and rhythmic gymnastics (what is this, really?) were agreed to be not-very-olympic-y.

Have a listen as we discuss sports from archery to wrestling. Do you agree with us, or should all of the summer olympic sports remain, and maybe even add more? Let us know.
